The new console will not have the hard drive its predecessor has. Instead it will be powered by three IBM-designed 64-bit microprocessors. Microsoft's main goal for the new console is to have a low manufacture cost as well as to have fast and high-quality graphics. Xbox-2 will be using ATI graphic chips instead of the NVidia technology used in Xbox. As for memory, Xbox-2 is scheduled to have 256 MB-- which may double, depends on the spec of its upcoming market opponent PS2. Xbox-2 also may not be competible with Xbox software due to the various differences in technologies used. So far, the scheduled release date for Xbox-2 is around autumn 2005. |
